Hyderabad: Former minister and Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao on Friday accused the Centre and the state government of targeting opposition leaders with raids by central agencies to coerce them into joining the ruling parties.

Harish Rao, after his visit to BRS’ Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy’s residence which was raided by the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday, told reporters that officials did not find anything that they were looking for.

"There was no gold, no cash, and there was proper documentation for everything including IT returns. The ED raid is one more act of intimidation of opposition MLAs and coercing them to leave their parties. One the one hand, the Congress government in the state is foisting false cases, while the Centre is letting loose its agencies. We have faith in the legal system and justice will prevail,” Rao said.
