HC Asks Govt to Furnish Memoir of Osmansagar Reservoir
Hyderabad:The Telangana High Court on Monday directed the state government to furnish to the court the lake memoir of the Osmansagar reservoir.
Justice Tadakamalla Vinod Kumar issued these directions while dealing with petitions filed by Gavva Vidyadhar Reddy and Sreeramaneni Anupama, who challenged the notices issued to them by the municipal authorities and also the consequent demolitions carried out in their land at Survey No. 233/2 of Khanapur in Rajendranagar mandal.
Narsingi municipal officials had issued notice dated August 9 asking the petitioner to produce certain documents. The petitioners said they submitted the documents in a letter dated August 12. The authorities without passing any order had resorted to demolition of petitioner’s premises partly on August 18.
The petitioners contended that the authorities had issued notices in 2015 and the High Court had issued directions not to demolish the structures, without hearing the petitioners. Following this, the irrigation authorities along with revenue officials had conducted a joint inspection to identify the structures coming in the FTL and buffer zone of Osmansagar.
By the report annexed to the covering letter dated 07-09-2015, they have found that the properties in Sy. No.s 245/2, 246/2 and 233/2 belonging to the petitioners were not in the FTL contour. The judge directed for placing the memoir of the reservoir.
Several individual petitioners also approached the High Court stating that officials had issued notices for demolition of their houses on the ground that they fell in the FTL of Durgam Cheruvu. The court issued directions to the authorities to follow the due procedure before taking any action.
