Hyderabad:Rain brought weekend outings to an abrupt halt on Saturday. Numerous low-lying areas and key roads were flooded, forcing the Disaster Response Force (DRF) to deploy teams for removal of stagnated water and fallen trees.

Knee-deep water was reported near the Telugu Talli flyover, while ECIL, Dilsukhnagar, Dhoolpet, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Hakimpet, Dammaiguda, Mettuguda, Ramnagar, Musheerabad and Masab Tank were severely affected by waterlogging.

Traffic police were on the ground in many of these areas, including Chilkalguda, where officers worked with the DRF to regulate traffic and clear the roads. Vehicles broke down mid-way due to rainwater at Musheerabad.

The southern parts of the city, including Shaikpet, Manikonda, Tolichowki and Golconda, experienced particularly heavy rains and thunderstorms. Bandlaguda Jagir also reported intense downpours, causing significant disruptions.

Key commercial and residential areas, such as Panjagutta, Madhapur, Kukatpally and Balanagar saw extensive waterlogging, prompting DRF teams to clear the stagnant water. An ambulance was seen stranded in Nampally.

Traffic slowed to a crawl in several locations, including Lakdikapul, Bible House, NMDC and Shah Rasoi Hotel, where police personnel and DRF teams, together managed the situation.

Power outages were reported in Jawaharpuram, Saidabad, Attapur and parts of Secunderabad, causing difficulties for residents.

Meanwhile, HYDRAA commissioner A. V. Ranganath visited the affected areas in Begumpet and instructed officials to clear the waterlogging points on a priority basis.
