Adilabad:Heavy rainfall across various parts of Adilabad district on Monday caused significant damage to roads, bridges, and agricultural fields. Floodwaters from overflowing rivulets and streams inundated standing cotton crops, disrupting road connectivity to numerous villages.

The Vadegoan stream, swollen with rainwater, affected access to Mamidiguda (G) and Mamidiguda (B) villages in Harkapur gram panchayat, Indravelli mandal. Residents of these villages, who had gone to the weekly shandi in Indravelli, faced considerable difficulties returning home on Monday evening due to the overflowing stream. In Garkampet gram panchayat, Gudihathnoor mandal, the new Somvarpet village was impacted by the overflowing Somvarpet rivulet. The floodwaters inundated cotton fields and disrupted road connectivity, preventing villagers from reaching their agricultural lands.

The heavy rainfall has highlighted the vulnerability of the region's infrastructure to extreme weather events and the urgent need for improvements to ensure better resilience.
