Heavy rains wreak havoc in Adilabad; IMD issues red alert
Irrigation officials lift gates of Yellampalli and Kadam

Adilabad: Rains played havoc with the Adilabad region, flooding many areas since Saturday. Weatherman issued a red alert for Adilabad and Nirmal and said the districts may experience incessant rains over the next two days.
These district administrations have been on high alert following the alerts from IMD. An orange alert has been issued for the Mancherial and Komaram Bheem Asifabad districts. A road was washed away in the floodwaters in Nakkalapalli in Kotapalli mandal. Road connectivity was snapped for five villages in the Mancherial district.
The Irrigation department discharged water downstream by lifting three gates of the Komaram Bheem project following heavy inflows. The project received 3200 cusecs inflow while the outflow was 3700 cusecs.
Irrigation officials lifted 20 gates to discharge floodwaters downstream from the Yellampalli project following heavy inflows. The water will into the Yellampalli irrigation project. The outflow was 1,36,714 cusecs.
The Gaddannavagu project also received inflows of 6666 cusecs.
Nirmal collector Abhilasha Abhinav visited the inundated low-lying areas following the heavy rains in the town. Along with SP Janaki Sharmila, the collector visited the Swarna irrigation project and put the people downstream on alert.
She announced a holiday on Monday for all the private and government schools.
In Komaram Bheem Asifabad district, a control room has been set up in view of the heavy rain and floods. Collector Venkatesh Dhotre monitored the flood situation.
In Adilabad also, a control room was set up with phone number 18004251939. Collector Rajarshi Shah asked the people to be careful since some old walls collapsed. Villagers were advised not to cross the overflowing streams and rivulets.
