Hyderabad: HMWS&SB managing director Ashok Reddy directed general managers to prioritise the recovery of outstanding dues from top 10 consumers in each division, including government offices. Details of defaulters had been shared with the GMs, he said.

Speaking at a virtual meeting on Friday along with executive director Mayank Mittal to review the progress of the one-time settlement scheme, for which the last date is November 30, Ashok Reddy said it was important to give widespread publicity to ensure public participation in the OTS scheme. He urged officials to carry out door-to-door awareness campaigns and collaborate with meter readers and collection teams.

Executive director Mittal addressed the need for identifying consumers with longstanding legal issues and resolving their grievances to enable payment of water bills. He also advised forming dedicated collection teams at the section level and adopting innovative strategies to boost revenue through the OTS initiative.

Officials were instructed to identify inactive Consumer Account Numbers (CANs) by the end of November, issue notices, and to take appropriate action against defaulters.
