Hyderabad: 100 Scammed in Job Visa Fraud; 2 Arrested

 Hyderabad: Two residents of Bachupally were arrested on Wednesday for their alleged role in a job visa racket which duped 100 people of Rs 5 crore in the name of a fake company Abroad Study Plan Educational Consultancy (ASPEC).

The arrested persons Ganta Sunil Kumar and Chikati Navyyasri have been remanded in judicial custody.

The CID's economic offences wing (EOW) started an investigation based on the complaint of Ch. Kamalakar, a native of Karimnagar, who said ASPEC defrauded him and his friend K. Sunil of Rs 8 lakh by claiming to fix them jobs in Malta in Europe. However after reaching Malta, the victims realised they were conned and they filed a police complaint on March 14 with Karimnagar Town Police.

A case was registered under sections 168, 420, 370(3), 406, 409, 419, 467, 471, 120-B of the IPC and sections 24(1)(b)(g) of The Emigration Act,1983.

On July 4, the case was transferred to CID's EOW. It was found the main accused Ghanta Anil Kumar, Ghanta Sunil Kumar, Kottu Sai Ravi Teja, Kottu Sai Manoj, Shubham and Vamshi were running ASPEC's offices in Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Delhi. Around 100 victims were identified from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, among other states.
