Hyderabad: 3 Held, Alprazolam Worth Rs 84L Seized
Hyderabad: During separate raids, the Telangana special task force (STF) seized alprazolam worth Rs 84 lakh in Siddipet and Nizamabad district respectively.
Acting on a tip off, the STF team along with the Siddipet district sleuths, seized 2.5 kg of alprazolam worth Rs 25 lakh on Tuesday when it was being transported from Siddipet district to Kistapur village, Siddipet excise department inspector G. Srinivas said.
“The accused, identified as Marupally Arjun, was transporting alprazolam and another 15 kg of the drug was seized from one Arun’s house at Vigneswara Colony in Siddipet district,” the police said.
Excise police and DTF teams started acting on information that alprazolam had reached Siddipet. Three people, who were travelling from Siddipet to Kistapur, were stopped and checked and 2.5 kg of alprazolam was seized from them. “Gaddamadi Raja Goud, Puri Narsumhu and the receiver Marupalli Arjun were arrested,” Siddipet excise superintendent Pradeep Rao said.
On Monday, Nizamabad district excise department team learnt that 4.3 kg of alprazolam has been transported from Maharashtra to Bodhan and to be supplied in different villages of Nizamabad district. However the cops seized 20 kg of the drug after raids at houses in Nizamabad district. “The case is still under investigation. We will seize all the banned drugs soon,” DCA (Director) V. B. Kamalasan said.
