Hyderabad: The municipal administration and urban development (MA&UD) department has suspended four engineers from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) and transferred director D. Sudarshan following the collapse of the gate and side wall at the intake well and pumping station in Sunkishala.

A senior officer committee was formed to investigate the incident, which revealed technical lapses among project officers. Sudarshan has been moved to a non-focal position, with instructions to appoint a replacement.

Suspended engineers include S. Kiran Kumar (chief general manager), B. Maria Raj (general manager), N. Prashant (deputy general manager), and K.V.P. Harish (manager). The collapse on August 2 was attributed to unexpected inflows to the Nagarjunasagar Reservoir, causing water to gush into the tunnel and resulting in the structural failure.
