Hyderabad: 89 Racers Arrested, Bikes Seized

 Hyderabad: The Raidurgam police registered nine cases against 89 bike racers and two car racers and seized their vehicles. They were found creating a public nuisance by racing and shouting near T-Hub, Knowledge City, Raidurgam. n June 1, at around 9 pm, the Raidurgam police were informed about people acing bikes near T-Hub, Knowledge City, Gachibowli, Serilingampally. By 10 m, the police arrived at the scene and found the racers performing stunts and racing on public roads, creating a nuisance and endangering public safety. Despite attempts to flee, the police managed to seize 50 bikes. A case was registered against all 50 bikers.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Madhapur DCP G. Vineeth said, "We have been ealing with a surge in nighttime bike racing and decided to file criminal cases against those involved because, despite repeated warnings, many young eople continue to engage in these dangerous activities. In one incident, constables attempting to stop the bike racers were nearly hit by the racing bikes."

"Strict action will be taken against the riders found endangering public afety by performing dangerous stunts and racing on public roads, causing a nuisance and harm to others. Cases have been booked under Sections 336, 279, and 290 of the IPC and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act," he added.

Some of the racers caught are minors. Their parents have been called in for ounseling. Ten individuals have been charged with criminal cases, and six have been arrested and sent to jail. The racers are posting videos of their tunts on social media. Several Instagram accounts have been identified, and the racers have created WhatsApp groups to coordinate their activities. Actions will be taken against the account holders, said the police.

All vehicles will be handed over to the Road Transport Authority for further action under the Motor Vehicles Act.
