Hyderabad: Anand reviews arrangements in sensitive areas

Hyderabad: In view of ongoing preparations for Ganesh immersions, Milad-Un-Nabi and other events lined up in the upcoming week, city police commissioner C.V. Anand on Thursday visited the Southeast Zone and East Zone, which are the most sensitive zones due to their mixed population.

Giving freedom to the officers, Anand instructed them to maintain watch over unscrupulous, communal elements, counsel communal rowdy-sheeters, history-sheeters and directed the zonal heads to bind over those likely to disrupt communal harmony. The commissioner urged the police personnel to be motivated and firm while doing their duties, mentally prepared to handle any situation and told them that he would be there to support their efforts and protect them.

Special Branch (SB) officers briefed him on recent incidents and outlined on-ground obstacles, particularly those impeding the smooth movement of the Ganesh idols procession. The commissioner gave specific directives to ensure procession vehicles follow designated routes as per the height of idols, engage communities actively and on other operational aspects necessary for the upcoming events. Traffic officers were directed to maintain the decongestion of lanes and ensure a smooth flow of processions.

Senior police officials including south zone DCP Patel Kanthilal Subash, the south east zone DCP B. Balaswamy, the east zone DCP N. Ashok Kumar, additional DCP of task force Ande Srinivasa Rao, local SHOs and other police personnel were present during the briefing, a press release issued by city police commissioner stated.
