Police detained a number of ABVP activists, led by their general secretary Ch Jhansi, who were protesting in front of the office of the director of school education. They were demanding the implementation of the Fee Regulation Act in private schools. They also called for action against unrecognised private schools, the provision of basic amenities in government schools. The BJP condemned the police actions on ABVP activists. "The police attacked indiscriminately and injured many students," said Dr S. Prakash, state BJP spokesperson.
