Hyderabad: The special crime teams of east zone police probing the recent murder of an elderly couple and whose highly decomposed bodies were found at their apartment in Saibabanagar, Amberpet, have questioned over 40 persons including victims family members, property offenders and those earlier involved in murder for gain with a similar modus operandi.

The victims’ apartment at Saibabanagar of DD Colony, Amberpet, has hardly CCTV cameras. Police teams have so far checked footage of over 240 CCTV cameras on the connecting roads, police sources disclosed.

The bodies of the victims, K. Linga Reddy, 83, and his wife K. Urmila Devi, 79, were found on October 20 by their relative Puduturi Ganga Reddy, while their neighbour Donne Janumuna had last seen the couple alive on the night of October 17.

“Their bodies were highly decomposed. The neighbours said that they had not heard any sound from the house and there was no forcible entry. This points a finger at an inside job,” a senior police officer said.

“So far we have questioned around 40 antisocial elements, three daughters of the couple, a son-in-law’s relatives in Nizamabad, to cross check any property disputes within the family," the officer said.

“The case is quite sensitive. Our teams are collecting concrete evidence against all possible suspects. We will soon detect the case,” one of the investigation officers said.
