Hyderabad: Deputy Sales Tax Officer in ACB Net

 Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) here on Tuesday caught Dinne Venkateshwar Reddy, deputy state tax officer of the assistant commercial taxes office (ACTO) in Mahbubnagar, for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant to issue a GST licence for running a seeds and scrap business.

A press release from ACB said that its officials had recovered the tainted bribe amount from the possession of Reddy.

The portion of a file that came into contact with the tainted bribe amount yielded a positive result in a chemical test, ACB officials said, adding that Reddy performed his duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain an undue advantage.

The officials arrested Reddy and produced him before the special court for ACB cases in Hyderabad which remanded him to judicial custody. The ACB has urged the people to contact its toll-free number 1,064 in case of any demands for bribes from public servants.
