Hyderabad: Doctor's Negligence Suspected in 20-yr-old's Death

Hyderabad: A 20-year-old in-patient at at a hospital in Sanathnagar died due to the alleged negligence of doctors, police said on Sunday.

The deceased, Afnan, was admitted in the hospital on September 20 with initial diagnosis of allergy and fever. At 9 pm on Saturday, Afnan died while undergoing treatment.

The family started to question the hospital and learned from another doctor that the deceased was allegedly given an overdose of a certain medicine, leading to his death, Sanathnagar inspector Sreenivasulu said.

“We have sent the body for postmortem examination at the Gandhi Hospital mortuary. Once the medical side of it is examined, we will be able to ascertain what has happened and take action accordingly. We are also waiting for an official letter from the district medical and health officer,” the inspector said.

Police have booked a case of death under suspicious circumstances and began an investigation.
