Hyderabad: In the wake of the rain over four days, GHMC commissioner Amrapalli Kata has ordered extensive control measures to prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases.

Anti-larva operations (ALO) and fogging were being done in colonies with stagnant water as also at lakes, nalas and Musi riverbanks, said GHMC chief entomologist Dr Rambabu. In coordination with medical and health department officials of GHMC, Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Sangareddy and Medchal districts, the disease data is being collected from all government and private hospitals.

On Wednesday, the chief entomologist and other medical officials visited Netajinagar basti dawakhana and identified cases of dengue, malaria and viral fever. Dr Rambabu said they have also released oil balls in the Kapra lake for mosquito control and awareness programmes were conducted in nearby colonies.
