Hyderabad: Hair Stylist, Jeweller Arrested in Chain-Snatching Case
Hyderabad: The commissioner’s task force (south-east zone), along with Malakpet police, arrested a hair stylist for chain snatching and a jeweller for receiving the stolen goods, in Armoor, Nizamabad on Sunday.
A scooter, a mobile phone and 40 gm of gold in jewellery were seized from their possession.
The accused were identified as Gatadi Sai Kumar (28), who worked as a hairdresser and a part-time bike-taxi driver, and Sriram Srinivas (41) who is the owner of Balaji Jewelers. Both are residents of Armoor in Nizamabad district.
During interrogation, Sai Kumar said he hatched a plan to snatch chains to meet his lavish lifestyle.
For this, he conducted reconnaissance at isolated areas and finally zeroed-in on a spot near Mumtaz College Road in Malakpet.
On June 18, around 9:00 pm Sai Kumar snatched a gold chain from an elderly woman and fled on his scooter that had no number plate, police said.
On the same day, he traveled to his hometown, Armoor, and sold the stolen gold chain to Sriram Srinivas for Rs 1,30,000.
Police teams identified the accused using CCTV footage and other technical clues.
