Hyderabad: Hyderabad city witnessed heavy rainfall, leading to severe waterlogging on main roads and in residential colonies. Roads in many parts of the city resembled ponds, with knee-deep water reported on Khairatabad Main Road. Tragically, the body of a daily worker who was swept away by the rains was found. In some areas, the force of the rainwater washed away cars parked outside homes.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has alerted residents in low-lying areas to avoid stepping out unless necessary. Helpline numbers—040-21111111 and 9000113667—have been set up for residents in need of assistance. GHMC and Disaster Response Force (DRF) staff quickly swung into action, conducting rescue operations across the city.
The heavy rainfall continued until 10:30 am on Tuesday.
In a separate incident, the compound wall of the LB Stadium collapsed due to the rain, causing damage to vehicles parked nearby.
Meanwhile, the government declared a holiday for educational institutions within the GHMC jurisdiction on Tuesday.
According to the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), the following are the rainfall records from 8:30 pm on Monday to 7:00 am on Tuesday:
Yusufguda recorded the highest rainfall in the city at 125.5 mm, followed by Uppal with 121.0 mm, and Rajendranagar with 119.0 mm.
Statewide, Aiza in Jogulamba Gadwal district recorded the highest rainfall at 132.0 mm, while Srirangapur in Wanaparthy district recorded 130.0 mm.
In another incident, a man was washed away in Indiranagar along with his bike due to the heavy flow of rainwater on the road. Fortunately, a passerby rescued the man, and a video of the incident has been making rounds on social media.
