Hyderabad: Man Loses Leg Trying to Save Phone from Snatcher

 Hyderabad: A passenger who was sitting on the steps of a bogie of a running train fell to the ground and sustained serious injuries when an unidentified man snatched his mobile phone. Secunderabad Government Railway Police (GRP) said that the leg of the victim, Chirutha Dinesh, 25, of Warangal district, a car driver, was severed.

The incident occurred on November 2 and came to light on Tuesday.

Police said his employer had retired and Dinesh was heading home to Warangal on the Satavahana Express when the incident occurred. He was searching for jobs online, while sitting at the door as the compartment was crowded. When the train was moving slowly near Lalaguda, someone grabbed the mobile phone. Dinesh tried to hang on to the phone but fell down and lost his right leg. Dinesh was taken to a hospital where doctors surgically amputated the right leg. Police booked a case and are trying to identify the man who grabbed the phone.
