Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metro Rail is claiming a shortage of Super Saver Holiday Pass, priced at Rs 59, for unlimited commuting on its services. The pass, hugely publicised by Metro Rail, was meant to attract passengers on holidays, Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays.

The scheme was intended to draw passengers who would otherwise prefer road travel on holidays when the traffic is less, the roads are free and travel time falls as compared to working days.

Many commuters reported that when they turned up at the Metro Rail stations with family and friends, the staff claimed that there was a shortage of Super Saver tickets.

Dev Kumar, who came with his friends to attend a private programme at Shilpa Kala Vedika last Sunday, was informed by the ticket-issuing staff at Gandhi Bhavan Metro station about unavailability of tickets. He pointed out a similar experience on Saturday too.

On asking whether he can get the ticket at Ameerpet, Hitec City or any other station on the line, the staff replied in the negative.

Girish Kumar, who planned to attend a marriage at a function hall in Nagole along with his family members, ran into a similar shortage. He said he had faced a similar experience in the past too. He also pointed out that the reduced frequency of Metro Ral trains on holidays was also a major concern.
