Hyderabad Police Recover Rs 11 Lakh in Gold, Silver From Theft Ring

 Hyderabad: The Afzalgunj police on Friday arrested one Kandi Sampath Reddy of Bolaram, Alwal, for stealing ornaments from a RTC bus passenger’s bag and goldsmith Ramesh Eknath Shinde of Begum Bazaar for receiving the stolen goods. Police recovered 15 tola gold and 22 tola silver ornaments worth `11 lakh from the duo.

The police was acting on a complaint filed by one Srikanth Kallapally on August 5. He said that his sister Kushanapally Saritha was returning to Godavarikhani in an RTC bus from Hyderabad when the theft occurred. At her home in Godavarikhani, she found the ornaments and Rs 10,000 cash missing.

During the probe, the police analysed CCTV footage from the MGBS and following investigations traced Sampath Reddy. The accused confessed to stealing from the bag, and also led the police to Ramesh.
