Hyderabad: Secunderabad Cantonment MLA Sriganesh Narayan met Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari on Friday to discuss the progress of the cantonment’s merger with the GHMC and the upcoming deliberations with the defence ministry on December 4.

Kumari reaffirmed the government’s readiness for the merger. This video conference with the joint secretary of lands and works, ministry of defence, will advance discussions on the merger. “This merger is crucial for resolving long-standing civic and infrastructure issues in Secunderabad Cantonment, and I am committed to ensuring that the transition is completed smoothly and efficiently,” he told reporters on Friday.

Sriganesh also reviewed constituency issues with revenue divisional officer (RDO) and mandal revenue officers (MROs) from Secunderabad, Trimulgherry and Marredpally.

Sriganesh urged officials to expedite the allocation of land for constructing women’s centres and building for the Nayi Brahmin community association. He also spoke about the need to protect government land and directed officials to take proactive measures in ongoing court cases to secure favourable verdicts.

Sriganesh stressed the importance of efficient service delivery for caste certificates. “Caste certificates for Aravamalas and Metaris should be issued directly at the MRO offices to simplify the process,” he said. He also proposed conducting a two-day governance programme in every ward of the constituency.
