Hyderabad: Six firms to set up units at Pharma City
Hyderabad: Six leading pharmaceutical companies have signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with the state government to invest Rs 5,260 crore to establish eco-friendly pharma units in Pharma City on the city outskirts. This investment is expected to create 12,490 job opportunities.
Management representatives from MSN Group, Laurus Labs, Gland Pharma, Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Aurobindo Pharma and Hetero Labs held talks with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and industries minister D. Sridhar Babu at the Secretariat on Friday.
Senior officials, including Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) chairperson Nirmala Jagga Reddy and industries special chief secretary Jayesh Ranjan, were present.
The MoUs mark a commitment to fostering pollution-free "green pharma" manufacturing units in the Pharma City, which is designed as an integrated hub for sustainable pharmaceutical development.
The MSN Group has committed to set up a manufacturing facility along with a dedicated R&D centre, Laurus Labs will establish a formulation unit, Aurobindo Pharma will set up a formulation manufacturing unit, Gland Pharma will launch an R&D centre, injectables, and drug substance manufacturing units. Dr Reddy's Laboratories will build facilities for injectables and biosimilars and Hetero Labs will establish a finished dosage and injectable manufacturing plant.
Revanth Reddy has directed officials to expedite land allocation for the projects and ensure that construction begins within the next four months. The government also assured the pharma majors the provision of essential infrastructure and support to ensure smooth operations at the Pharma City.
The pharma sector leaders, including Dr Reddy’s Labs chairman K. Satish Reddy, Laurus Labs executive director V.V. Ravikumar, and Gland Pharma CEO Srinivas Sadu expressed optimism about the state’s pro-business policies.
They emphasised the potential of these projects to drive innovation, improve healthcare access, and contribute to the state's socio-economic development.
