Hyderabad: Student groups Hold Rally Demanding Reconduct of NEET
The students were led by MLC and NSUI state president Dr Venkat Balmoor and leaders of other student unions, demanding justice for the students who have been adversely affected by the alleged scam in the conduct of the test
Hyderabad: Representatives of student and youth unions, National Students' Union of India (NSUI), All India Students' Federation (AISF), Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU), Students Federation of India (SFI), and others along with hundreds of students, held a rally from Narayanguda circle to Dr B.R. Ambedkar statue at Tank Bund on Tuesday demanding a reconduct of NEET-UG.
The students were led by MLC and NSUI state president Dr Venkat Balmoor and leaders of other student unions, demanding justice for the students who have been adversely affected by the alleged scam in the conduct of the test.
In light of the ongoing concerns regarding paper leaks and discrepancies in marks in NEET, the students demanded that the exam should be conducted again. They were of the view that an inquiry should be conducted by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court looking into the matter of paper leakage and those responsible should be severely punished.
Dr Balmoor, while addressing the students, said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi should take responsibility for the paper leak and must apologise publicly to the students."
The students also demanded abolishment of the National Testing Agency, that was responsible for conducting NEET, and said that the administration of the exam should be handed over to the respective state governments.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Abhinav, a student who participated in the rally, said, "I was supposed to get 340 marks as per the answer key but I received only 270 when the score card came. There are many more students who have been affected. Due to discrepancies in marks, the seat allocation in medical colleges will be affected. Hence, a re-exam is the only solution."
