Hyderabad: The GHMC will hold the ‘Swachadanam-Pachadanam (cleanliness-greenery) programme from August 5 to 9. Sanitation activities, including clearing garbage vulnerable points, will be the focus on Monday, and measures to contain vector-borne diseases along with anti-larval operations and fogging on August 6. Works related to waterbodies, including cleaning and fencing them, have been slated for August 7. Measures to check urban flooding and Vanamahotsavam will be taken up on August 9.

Hyderabad: Shamshabad airport-Hyderabad route to be closed for 43 days

Hyderabad: The road from the Shamshabad airport to the city will be closed for 43 days at the Kishanguda ramp. Traffic will be diverted towards the Bengaluru exit and motorists will need to take a U-turn at the Trauma Care Centre on NH 44 to take head towards the city. Traffic from Hyderabad towards the airport has not been affected. The road has been shut to construct a six-lane main carriageway with service roads and an exit ramp for the airport traffic to connect the elevated corridor at Shamshabad.

Nalgonda: Crest gates of Nagarjunasagar project to be opened today

Nalgonda: The radial crest gates of Nagarjunasagar project would be opened at 8 am on Monday to let out two lakh cusecs of water. The dam currently has 266.3 tmc ft of water against its storage of 312.5 tmc ft, and is filling up fast. It is receiving 5.2 lakh cusecs, mainly from Srisailam where the gates have been opened to release excess water. District collector C. Narayana Reddy alerted officials and people living downstream of the dam to be wary of the water release. The Srisailam reservoir is releasing all the 4 lakh cusecs of water it is receiving.
