Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday said that a no-objection certificate (NoC) from the newly-formed lake protection agency HYDRAA will be mandatory for constructing any structure in Hyderabad. He also reiterated that HYDRAA will continue to demolish illegal buildings and structures which encroached the full tank level (FTL) and buffer zones.

Participating in the passing-out parade of sub-inspectors at the Telangana State Police Academy on Wednesday, Revanth Reddy said the state government has set up HYDRAA to clear encroachments in FTL and buffer zones of water bodies to prevent floods in the city.

He said the government would not hesitate to demolish the illegal buildings of high-profile persons if they have constructed the buildings on FTL and buffer zones.

The Chief Minister also asked celebrities and high-profile people, who have residences constructed on FTL and buffer zones, to shift to another place before the government initiates action. The illegal encroachers must vacate the land and hand it over to the irrigation department.

Revanth Reddy said that after the Congress government was formed in the state, the government provided 30,000 job opportunities to unemployed youth. The government also brought reforms in the State Public Service Commission by announcing a job calendar for unemployed youth. Following the unemployed request, the government also postponed the Group- II exams.

"We noticed that youth are addicted to drugs by ruining their lives at a young age. In an attempt to prevent the drug peddling activity, the state government took the issue seriously. The police must initiate cracking the whip on drug peddling activity and it is our responsibility to rebuild Telangana paving the way for future generations," the Chief Minister said.

Revanth Reddy also promised to set up a residential police school for the policemen's children in the city and the government would provide 50 acres of land for construction of schools on par with the Sainik schools. The residential police school will come up in Warangal soon.

Meanwhile, DGP Jitender handed over a cheque of `11.05 crore to the Chief Minister for relief assistance. The funds were pooled in by the police staff by contributing their one day’s salary.
