Yadadri-Bhongir: Former minister and MLA Chamakura Malla Reddy of BRS on Wednesday said that the poor people were facing sleepless nights in Hyderabad due to the demolitions of illegal structures by the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA).

Speaking to the media after having darshan at Yadadri Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple here, He expressed concern that the state government's aggressive approach, akin to a 'Kargil War,' in demolishing illegal constructions within the Full Tank Level (FTL) of irrigation tanks has caused unrest among the poor residents of the state capital.

Malla Reddy questioned the urgency of constituting HYDRAA and said that the government could have first demarcated the FTL and buffer zones of tanks and other water bodies in Hyderabad before setting up HYDRAA. By doing so, people would be aware of whether their houses were within the limits of FTL or buffer zones, he said.

Regarding the notices issued to him, Malla Reddy clarified that all the buildings of his colleges were constructed during the Congress regime only and he might have unknowlingly violated the FTL norms for which he he was issued notice like many others. He termed the HYDRAA as an attention-diversion tactic by the Congress government.
