Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday said that the family digital cards being issued by the state government were aimed at providing a protective shield to every family. He said this initiative is part of Congress government's "One State, One Card" policy, aimed at extending welfare benefits to all eligible citizens.

Launching the pilot project for issuing the cards in Secunderabad on Thursday, the Chief Minister said this card will streamline the delivery of welfare benefits, consolidating various schemes into a single, easily accessible platform.

The card will allow citizens to access benefits from all welfare schemes such as ration, Aarogyasri (health insurance), and fee reimbursement. "All welfare scheme benefits will be provided through this single family card, ensuring that eligible citizens seamlessly receive the support that they need," said Revanth Reddy.

He said the card would recognise women as the head of the household.

The pilot project is being rolled out simultaneously across all 119 Assembly constituencies, covering 238 selected areas.

“The previous BRS government ignored the people's demand for ration cards for over 10 years. My government, after studying policies from other states, decided to introduce a new, comprehensive policy to benefit every deserving household in Telangana," he said.

Revanth Reddy clarified that the card would consolidate data from 30 government departments and enable access to all welfare schemes.

"Everyone’s health profile will be included in the card, ensuring that the poor can access healthcare support. The pilot project is intended to identify and resolve any challenges we encounter during the rollout process," said the Chief Minister.

To ensure the success of the programme, an RDO-level officer has been appointed as a monitoring officer for each constituency.

Revanth Reddy criticised the previous BRS government for leaving the state in financial disarray, noting that his government is focused on correcting past mistakes. He also highlighted the Congress government's quick action in resolving the long-pending Cantonment area issues by facilitating land transfers to the central government for the allocation of housing plots.

"The Kalvakuntla family not only lost power but also lost touch with the people. They failed to address key issues like unemployment during their 10-year rule. My government, on the other hand, initiated a recruitment drive as soon as we came into power to address this critical problem," he said.
