Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy extended warm Independence Day greetings to the people of Telangana, paying tribute to the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters during India's struggle for independence. In his address, the Chief Minister highlighted the significant role played by noted personalities and the Congress party in shaping modern India.

Revanth Reddy underscored that India's freedom struggle is unique in its adoption of non-violence as a means to achieve independence, crediting Mahatma Gandhi for leading the nation through a path of peace. He expressed his deep respect for Gandhi's philosophy, which demonstrated to the world that freedom could be attained without violence.

Reflecting on the post-independence challenges, the Chief Minister praised the foresight of the Congress leadership, particularly the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He acknowledged Nehru's contributions to building a modern, scientifically advanced India through initiatives like the Five-Year Plans, which prioritized agricultural and industrial development. Revanth Reddy also lauded the construction of major irrigation projects during Nehru's regime, which have since been referred to as "Modern Temples" for their impact on the agricultural sector.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the achievements of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who completed several key projects initiated during Nehru's tenure, and played a pivotal role in launching the Green Revolution, which transformed India into a self-sufficient nation in food production. He further praised the contributions of former Prime Ministers Lal Bahadur Shastri and Rajiv Gandhi, noting their roles in advancing India's agricultural and technological sectors.

Revanth Reddy reserved special mention for Telangana's pride, former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, who introduced economic reforms that set India on a path of rapid development. He emphasized that the Congress party's contributions during both the freedom struggle and the nation-building phase were significant and should be acknowledged by the current generation.

The Chief Minister also reminded the people of Telangana of the Congress party's commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of the region, pointing out that it was under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi that statehood for Telangana was granted on June 2, 2014.

In his address, Revanth Reddy asserted that his government is committed to reviving the true spirit of freedom in Telangana, which he claimed had been stifled over the past decade. He assured the people that the state government is focused on transparent and people-friendly governance, with a commitment to rectify any mistakes.

The Chief Minister acknowledged the financial challenges inherited by his administration, noting that the state debt had escalated dramatically before his government took charge. He expressed optimism about restructuring the state's debts, citing recent talks with the World Bank for financial assistance at favorable interest rates. Revanth Reddy reiterated his government's dedication to fulfilling its promises, including the Abhayahastham initiative, aimed at bringing happiness to every family in Telangana.
