Support of Telugu voters becomes crucial in Maharashtra polls

Several candidates from MVA and Mayuthi already approached the voters from Telugu States seeking their support during elections. But this time the Telugus categorically informed the candidates that they would support only those who accord priority to their welfare.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy campaigned separately in Worli in Mumbai and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan took part in the campaign in other parts of Maharashtra seeking support for their candidates.

The representatives of Telugu people informed that a Telugu Bhavan must be constructed in Mumbai apart from allocating 10 seats for contesting during Mumbai Municipal Corporation Elections and stopping trains operating between Telangana and Maharashtra at more of stations in Nizamabad and Karimnagar.

In response, both Revanth Reddy and Kishan Reddy assured to positively look into the assurance, Y Jaiprakash, an industrialist hailing from Armoor in Nizamabad and settled in Mumbai, said while interacting with Deccan Chronicle.

He said as many one crore Telugus were staying in Maharashtra. Of them, a majority were staying in Mumbai. A large number of Telugu speaking people from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are staying in Worli, Prabhadevi near Dadar and Dharavi among other areas.

Another Telugu voter Girish Ponna, a native of Valligonda in Nalgonda and settled in Mumbai, explained that several internal meetings were also conducted within the Telugu people explaining the importance of every vote during elections and support to be extended to candidates who would accord priority to them.

He added that Telugu voters in two key Assembly constituencies – Worli and Mahim would decide the candidate’s future in the elections.
