Hyderabad: The much-anticipated results of the JEE Advanced 2024 were announced on Sunday, ending the period of competitive exams for aspiring engineers across the country.

Among the top achievers, Rishi Shekher Shukla from the city secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 25 with 320 out of 360. Hailing from a family of scientists — his father is an Isro scientist and his mother had previously worked at the same research organisation — he credited his success to rigorous preparation and steadfast support system.

Rishi shared his daily study regimen, saying, "I would wake up at around 7.30 in the morning. School would start at around 8 and go on till 1.30 pm. I would take out some time in the morning to practise my math, clear some doubts and solve some questions. After school I would study Physics for about an hour and then go for light exercises to clear my mind. In the evening, I would attend my coaching classes from 5.30 till 7 pm. After the classes, again, I could find more time for self-study, say from 8 to 9 pm revision."

When asked about the challenges he faced during his preparation, Rishi admitted, "I would get scared whenever I faced any doubts. At that time I would close the book and ask myself to calm down first. Then some breathing exercises would help me to stay focused. After that I would attack the concepts one by one in a peaceful mind. I also understood that getting stressed is not the solution, and even if you get low marks in a test or do not perform up to the mark, you should not go into depression, because that can hamper your health."

His advice to future aspirants is, "Learning the concepts is more important than marks. The more you learn, the more you grow. Each step we take should make an improvement and we should be satisfied with what we have. Consistency combined with hard work will surely give success."

Putti Kushal Kumar, who achieved AIR 5, tailored his study timetable to his needs and focused intensely on the areas he found most challenging. He too plans to pursue computer science at IIT Bombay. Kushal’s approach to preparation involved a mix of rigorous study and relaxation, with badminton being his preferred sport to unwind.

Alladaboina S.S.D.B. Sidhivik Suhas, who secured AIR 10, also expressed his desire to join IIT Bombay for computer science. Explaining his choice between engineering and medicine, Suhas said, "I did not want to memorise too much information all my life," he laughed. When not studying, Suhas enjoys playing badminton and binge-watching the latest Netflix series.

Many of this year's toppers have expressed a keen interest in specialisations like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Analytics.
