Warangal: The INFLIBNET Centre gave a nod for the installation of ‘Plagiarism Detection Software’ in the Kakatiya University for checking all the Ph.D theses that will be submitted by research scholars, said KU anti-plagiarism cell coordinator Dr Raj Kumar in a statement in Hanamkonda district.

The INFLIBNET centre is providing plagiarism software (DrillBit-Extreme) freely to Kakatiya University under the Ministry of human resource development (MHRD) of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India.

However, for the past week, the Drill-Bit Extreme software was withheld (stopped) in all universities across the state including KU because of which the research scholars have lost the opportunity to submit their Ph.D thesis or the projects for checking.

Raj Kumar said that it was mandatory for Ph.D research scholars to upload their thesis in the plagiarism software and check before submission. Based on the report they get from the plagiarism software, they must submit their thesis.

Not only the research scholars but also professors and faculty members should check their research projects and essays through plagiarism software. But with heavy load falling on the software servers, the INFLIBNET centre stopped the software link.

However, after sending a letter from the university to the centre through an email assuring that the plagiarism software will be used only for the Ph.D thesis of research scholars, the centre has given a nod and sent the link to the Kakatiya University, he added.
