Hyderabad: The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Secunderabad busted an inter-State ganja smuggling racket with the arrest of a peddler from Maharashtra.

As many as 18 kgs of ganja worth Rs.4.50 lakh were seized from the possession of the arrested person identified as Abubakar Kasam Shaik, 47, a plumber and resident of Mumbai, said Railway Superintendent of Police Chandana Deepti.
On Sunday, the personnel of GRP in coordination with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) were conducting a surprise checking against drugs peddlers on platforms and trains at Secunderabad Railway Station when they detained Shaik on platform number one for transporting dry ganja from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh State to Mumbai via Secunderabad.
Shaikh purchased 18 kgs of dry ganja from an unknown person for Rs.90,000 in Visakhapatnam to sell it to needy people at a higher price in Mumbai.
