Hyderabad: The Telangana Employees Associations Joint Action Committee (JAC) has strongly demanded that the Centre restore the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and rejected the attempt to shift to the Unified Pension System (UPS).

JAC chairman V. Lacchi Reddy reiterated the demand to reinstate the OPS, which he argued was crucial for the financial security of retired employees and their family members.

The Telangana Employees' JAC convened a meeting in the city on Friday, bringing together leaders from various unions of employers and teachers to discuss future strategies to press their demand for OPS.

Lacchi Reddy said that he would embark on a statewide tour from September 1 to 5 to meet with leaders of employees, teachers, pensioners, contract, and outsourcing employees associations across all 33 districts. The goal was to engage in detailed discussions on JAC’s expansion, operational strategies, and the pressing issue of the pension system change.

The JAC representatives will visit Praja Bhavan on Saturday and submit a representation at Prajavani programme demanding the implementation of OPS, which they believe will better serve the needs of state government employees compared to the UPS and CPS alternatives currently being considered.
