Kamareddy: Kamareddy police on Friday busted an illegal sex determination racket in Rajampet and arrested five people including registered medical practitioners Boini Yadagiri and Bakki Praveen Kumar. The three others were identified as Balla Ravinder, Potala Samson and Chithapalapoodi Durga Prasad

Superintendent of police Ch. Sindhu Sharma stated that CCS and Rajampet police raided Ravinder’s house in Rajampet on Thursday, where they found ultrasound scanning machines used for the sex determination tests. They found a woman from Wargal mandal undergoing a sex determination test.

Previously, Ravinder worked at hospitals in Rajampet and Kamareddy. In 2021, Kousalya Hospital was seized following charges that it conducted the tests. Following that, Ravinder set up his own unit in Rajampet.

Sharma said that 14 people were involved in the racket, of whom five were arrested. “We are searching for the remaining suspects,” she said. Police seized an ultrasound scanning machine, cables, and a mobile phone from the accused.
