Karimnagar: A 60-year-old farmer died after coming into contact with a live wire set up by another farmer in Kustapur village, Mallapur mandal, Jagtial district, on Thursday.

According to the police, Jellapedda Muthanna had gone to water his crops on the outskirts of the village in the morning. Gonda Sayanna, a resident of the neighbouring village of Ratnapura, had installed an electric fence around his field to protect it from monkeys without obtaining permission from the electricity department.
While returning home after spraying pesticide on his crops, Muthanna accidentally touched the electric fence and died on the spot.
When Muthanna did not return home by evening, his family grew worried and began searching for him. They eventually found him dead near the fields. Following a complaint from the family, the police registered a case against Sayanna and launched an investigation.
