KCR Moves HC, Seeks Quashing of FIR Over T-Stir
Hyderabad: Former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Monday filed a petition before the Telangana High Court seeking quashing of the criminal proceedings initiated against him during the separate Telangana movement for calling for a rail roko programme in October 2011.
Some agitators, based on the call given by the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee, had participated in the programme thereby causing obstruction to the rail movement on October 15, 2011. They had also raised slogans such as ‘Telangana Drohulu Kabardar’. Based on a complaint, the Secunderabad police had arrested some of the agitators and lodged an FIR naming Chandrashekar Rao, Kodandaram and others as accused.
The case is pending before the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court at Nampally and a chargesheet has been filed. In the proceedings, the trial court issued summons to Chandrashekar Rao for his appearance.
Challenging the chargesheet stating that he only gave a call for the rail rook programme but was not involved in it, Chandrashekar Rao approached the High Court to quash the proceeding against him.
