Khammam: Teams of the Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) found that syringes used and discarded by registered medical practitioners were being reused on animals by some of the private veterinary practitioners.

Thirteen teams of the TGMC conducted raids on the clinics being run by RMPs in Khammam in violation of rules.

The TGMC officials found a huge number of used syringes and injections in a clinic of a RMP at Khammam and questioned him. The officials were shocked when the RMP told them that used syringes and injections would be used for cattle and sheep.

There were chances for transmission of dangerous diseases from human to animals, the council officials said.

As video of the raid on the RMP clinic went viral, the officials of the health department tried to identify the clinics involved in such illegal practices.

Khammam district medical and health officer Dr Malathi said that TGMS teams were conducting raids on their own. “We will write to the TGMC seeking information of RMPs who were involved in illegal practice. It is a very serious matter,” Dr Malathi said.
