HYDERABAD: State BJP president and Union minister G. Kishan Reddy said that HYDRAA must follow principles of natural justice and be compassionate when demolishing the homes of the poor. Many such households had paid municipal tax for years, he pointed out.

In an open letter to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Kishan Reddy said that 13,000 poor and middle-class families reside in the Musi catchment area.
"Before demolishing their homes, the government should engage in discussions and make alternative arrangements like providing them with double bed-room houses before going ahead with the Musi Riverfront Development Project," Kishan Reddy said.
Kishan Reddy said the earlier BRS government burdened the state by raising thousands of crores of rupees in exchange for poorly planned projects. The Congress government is taking the excuse of lack of funds as a reason for not taking up new infrastructure projects, he said.
Kishan Reddy asked the state government to remove unauthorised constructions by duly maintaining transparency.
"HYDRAA must make a comprehensive plan, centred around integrity, transparency, humanity, social responsibility, and constructive regulations," he said.
The Union minister also urged the Congress government to make stringent laws to check illegal layouts. "Without these measures, several families will continue to suffer silently as their homes are demolished. It is unjust for the government to destroy homes using bulldozers for which taxes have been paid and loans have been availed," he said.
