Hyderabad: Union minister G. Kishan Reddy urged the state government to widen approach roads to the Secunderabad and Cherlapally railway stations where infrastructure improvement works taken up by the Centre was progressing at a brisk pace.

In a letter addressed to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Kishan Reddy said that the Centre was developing the Cherlapally terminal at a cost of Rs 415 crore and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had agreed to personally inaugurate it,

Kishan Reddy said a 100-feet-wide road needed to be constructed from the FCI Godown side. Additionally, an two 80-feet-wide roads were required, one towards the northern side (Bharatnagar) and the other towards Mahalakshminagar. The road in front of the industrial sheds should also be widened to 80 feet, Kishan Reddy said.

The Centre was upgrading the Secunderabad station to international airport standards at a cost of Rs 715 crore and the work would be completed by the end of next year. The access roads were narrow; the road between the Rathifile bus station and Alpha Hotel was particularly congested during peak hours, Kishan Reddy noted in the letter. The road should be widened in tandem with the railway station development work.
