Hyderabad: The judicial probe into the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme (KLIS) has hit a controversy as it has been revealed that the government has not yet issued official orders regarding the payment of salary to Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose, who is heading the investigation.

Justice Ghose has reportedly not received any remuneration for the first three months of his tenure despite the government recently extending the commission's term by two months, till the end of August.

Officials disclosed that the government was supposed to issue a separate order specifying the salary and remuneration for Justice Ghose. The file has reportedly stalled in the finance department, though it is expected that the order will be issued soon.

A key point of deliberation is whether Justice Ghose’s remuneration will be based on his last drawn salary as Supreme Court justice or if additional allowances will be included. At a minimum, the government is expected to pay Justice Ghose around Rs 5.1 lakh per month.
