Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said that the Telangana government would continue to draw inspiration from Chakali Ilamma. The government has decided to name the Mahila University in Kothi after Chakali Ilamma, he said.

The CM said that Ilamma's granddaughter Swetha would be appointed as a member of the Women Commission. The government has decided to make Ilamma family members involved in the government.

Revanth Reddy was speaking at a programme organized marking the death anniversary of Chakali Ilamma.

He said that former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi distributed lakhs of acres to the poor drawing inspiration from Chakali Ilamma. Indira Gandhi felt that that land would improve the self-respect of the poor.

"In the name of Dharani, a few political leaders tried to loot poor people's land," he said.
