KTR blocks Big TV on X, raising questions about free speech
Hyderabad: K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has recently blocked the official X handle of the Big TV news channel. This action has sparked discussions about free speech and the use of social media platforms.
It's not uncommon for public figures to block individuals on social media to avoid harassment, abuse, or unwanted interactions. However, blocking news organisations raises concerns about limiting access to information and restricting critical discourse.
Critics of the BRS party have alleged that the party frequently blocks accounts that pose tough questions or criticise their policies. While it's understandable that a party in power might face scrutiny, the practice of blocking dissenting voices raises questions about transparency and accountability.
KTR has previously been accused of blocking the official handle of the Congress party and several of its public representatives. Such actions have fuelled concerns about the party's tolerance for dissent and its commitment to free speech.
