Hyderabad: The Congress government in the state, and the BJP in the Centre, were constantly undermining the struggle that the people went through to achieve statehood for Telangana, and there is an urgent need for youth of today to know about the Telangana movement, BRS working president K.T. .Rama Rao said on Friday.

Addressing a gathering of BRS leaders at Telangana Bhavan, at an event to mark the anniversary of party president K. Chandrashekar Rao starting a fast unto death for statehood, Rama Rao said. “if we do not remind ourselves of the path we treaded, we will not know where to go. The younger generation must be made aware of the role of KCR in achieving statehood, and the reasons why society chose to walk with him on the tough path.”

Rama Rao said three generations had to endure oppression. “Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s attempts to erase KCR's legacy are not just about KCR, they are about erasing Telangana's history and identity,” Rama Rao added.

Referring to the suspension of land acquisition in Lagcharla village as a victory for Telangana's people, particularly tribals, Dalits, BCs, and farmers, Rama Rao said “we will continue to resist any attempts to exploit Telangana's lands for selfish gains.”

Addressing a similar event in Siddipet, senior party leader T. Harish Rao said the party will always stand with everyone who worked for the statehood. Hitting out at those who quit the party for posts, Harish Rao said there was no question of taking back anyone who left the party back into the BRS’ fold.
