Hyderabad:TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud on Friday said that more leaders from the BRS will be shifting allegiance to the ruling party after Dasara.

In an informal chat with media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Goud accused the BRS and BJP of engaging in 'shady deals' that were designed to destabilise the Congress government.

He pointed out the similarities between the two parties, citing the bail granted to MLC K. Kavitha in the liquor scam case as proof of the collusion between the parties. Hinting at political favouritism, Goud questioned why AAP leader Manish Sisodia, who was arrested in the same case, had not received bail as quickly as Kavitha had.

Goud announced that the Congress would form a new TPCC executive body within a month. While the plan to fill nominated posts before Dasara was delayed due to elections in Haryana and Jammu, he assured that it would be accomplished soon.

The TPCC president also lashed out at the BJP, accusing it of burdening the poor with high prices of essential commodities in the last decade. He stated that the BJP-led government at the Centre, which has failed the people on the inflation front, has no moral right to speak on behalf of the poor.

Goud stressed the Congress government's commitment to cleaning up Musi River without causing hardship to the underprivileged residents living along its banks. He added that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Musi aims at both cleaning and beautifying the river, but assured that there will be no demolitions that will affect the poor. He mentioned that 50 per cent of residents in the Musi catchment area support the development project.

He alleged that BRS leaders were misusing social media platforms by spreading false news and targetting strong Congress leaders like ministers Konda Surekha and Seethakka.

On the issue of BCs and MLC Teenmaar Mallanna airing their concerns, Goud reaffirmed Congress' sincerity in resolving issues concerning BCs, while dismissing the notion that Mallanna had crossed party lines by raising such matters.
