Hyderabad: Protesting the recent atrocities on women, a team of the BJP’ mahila morcha led by its state unit president Dr Shilpa Reddy submitted a memorandum to Governor Jishnu Dev Verma at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday seeking his intervention.

 “Recently, a scavenger assaulted a blind girl at a Blind Hostel at Malakpet, a software engineer was gang raped in Vanasthalipuram, an RTC driver assaulted a passenger in the bus in the city limits, the police used third-degree torture on a Dalit woman in Shadnagar Police station, and a physically-challenged woman was raped in Shali Gouraram in Nalgonda district recently. We request the Governor to seek a report from the state government on these atrocities and the cases booked against perpetuates,” she said. 

 She charged that the crime rate in the state has shot up by 12 per cent, with more atrocities reported against women in 2023, as per the latest statistics released by the National Crime Records Bureau.
