Warangal: Mamnoor Airport will be developed to international standards with cargo services to meet the future needs of people in Warangal, said endowment minister Konda Surekha.

The minister, along with MP Kadiam Kavya, MLAs Revuri Prakash Reddy and K.R. Nagaraju, city mayor Gundu Sudharani, and district collector Satya Sharada, inspected the Mamnoor airfield in Warangal on Thursday.

Following the inspection, they held a meeting with residents of Gadipally, Gunturpally, and Nakkalapally to discuss the acquisition of 253 acres for the airport. Villagers were briefed on how the airport would positively impact their lives.

The minister assured residents that the government would provide compensation based on the market value of their land, acknowledging their contribution to Warangal’s development. She also promised prime land within a rehabilitation colony, which would include facilities such as electricity, roads, drainage, and drinking water.

Although the Airport Authority of India (AAI) initially objected to establishing a commercial airport within 150 km of Hyderabad, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy successfully persuaded the Centre and GMR Group to support the project at Mamnoor, she added.
