Hyderabad: An argument over paying Rs.1 additionally for purchasing biryani at a food joint in Gandhinagar in Warangal claimed the life of an auto rickshaw driver on Friday night.

The incident created sensation in the area as it went viral on various social media platforms on Saturday.

AJ Mills Colony Inspector P Mallaiah told Deccan Chronicle that the auto driver Premsagar first came to the food joint to purchase a mini-biryani. At the same time, another customer identified as Arvind came there to buy another biryani.

When Premsagar paid Rs.60 as against Rs.59 over PhonePe for mini-biryani, Arvind humiliated him for paying Rs.1 additionally triggering an argument between them. Even as other customers tried to pacify them, both Premsagar and Arvind did not relent and indulged in fisticuffs.

In the melee, Arvind allegedly pushed Premsagar. As a result Premsagar slipped and fell on a boulder leading to serious head injuries. The food joint customers rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Based on a complaint received from the auto driver’s family, the police registered a murder case under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) last night and the body was handed over to his family after an autopsy at MGM hospital mortuary. A hunt is on to nab Arvind.

Police said they were examining the footage collected from surveillance cameras installed near the food joint. “We are collecting more details from the food joint owner and other customers who were present at the time of the incident to identify Arvind,” the police said.
