Hyderabad: Days after a miscreant ran away after snatching a breathalyzer from a traffic cop, the Bowenpally police on Wednesday arrested the offender and seized the breathalyzer equipment.

During a drunk and drive test conducted by the traffic police, a miscreant snatched the breathalyzer. The arrested accused is Kothaplli Sravan Kumar, 27, a car driver and resident of Taraka Colony, NMC-Rampally, Ghatkesar Road, Hyderabad, originally from Karimnagar.

"On June 27, Bowenpally Traffic police were conducting drunk and drive checks at Pulla Reddy Building, Traffic Point, New Bowenpally, as per instructions from senior officers. At around 12.50 am, the traffic police stopped a Swift Dzire car and were conducting a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) test on the driver of the vehicle. Suddenly, the driver pushed the police officer on duty, snatched the breathalyzer forcibly, and sped away with his car," said North Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) S. Rashmi Perumal.

A case was registered against the miscreant on June 28 following a complaint lodged by the traffic police. During questioning, Sravan Kumar reportedly stated that he was intoxicated and snatched the breathalyzer for fun before driving away.
