Man killed, daughter injured in road mishap
Hyderabad: A 39-year-old man was killed while his teenage daughter was severely injured when the bike on which they were riding on was hit by a speeding vehicle on the NH44 within the Shamshabad police station limits. Although the incident occurred on Tuesday, it came to light on Thursday.
According to Shamshabad police, the deceased identified as K. Kumar, had picked his daughter, Shruthi, from an examination centre. When they reached near Thondupally Railway bridge, a truck allegedly being driven in a rash and negligent manner, rammed into the deceased’s bike from behind. The impact was such that both fell off the bike. Kumar, who suffered severe head injuries, died on the spot. Shruthi survived with minor injuries.
After being informed about the incident, one of the persons from the same village, Venkatesh, informed Kumar’s brother, Yadaiah. He rushed to the spot, where he found his brother dead. Shruthi was shifted to a hospital in the city, where she is currently undergoing treatment, the police added.
The body has been shifted to the mortuary for a postmortem examination. A case has been registered and further investigation is under way. Efforts are on to nab the absconding truck driver.
